Italy! The Land of the Vine, according to the ancient Greeks; nowhere else is wine so closely intertwined with daily life in every village throughout the Italian peninsula – not even France. Nowhere else is there such a enormous array of excellent native grapes.
Beginning Sunday February 24, Sommelier Arnie Millan will be offering an in-depth look at Italian wine with three classes, each organized by region:
1. February 24th – The South (Campagnia, Sicily, Puglia, Calabria, Sardinia, Basilicata)
2. March 3rd – The Center (Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio, The Marches, Emilia-Romagna, Molise, Abruzzi)
3. March 10th – The North (Piedmont, Valle d’Aosta, Liguria, Lombardy, Veneto, Alto Aldige/Trentino, Friuli-Giulia-Venezie)
Each region, its history and wines, will be discussed in depth with up-to-date hand-outs. Each class will include tasting 8 regional wines. The classes begin each Sunday at 3:00 p.m. and end at 5:30 p.m.
The cost is $59 per person per class or $165 for the three class series.
